  • “In the beginning of 2011, I was introduced to the men of the Great Ditch Road Hunt Club. Little did I know how much of an impact that these men, who are now known as Combat Warriors, would have on my life physically and mentally. For four years I was told I would never hunt or fish again. In January 2011 I was presented the opportunity to go on a duck hunt, and I decided go, even against doctors orders. When I arrived at the duck hunt, I met some of the most genuine, down-to-earth men I’ve ever met. Not once did my injuries or medical condition come up. For the entire weekend, all I heard from them was, “You can do this; come on, Dean, you’re going with us.” Before I knew it, all those doctors’ voices were gone, and these gentlemen showed me that, “I could,” instead of, “I can’t.” My hat is off and my head is bowed to the Combat Warriors for the rest of my life.”

  • “Participating in Combat Warriors events, I also witnessed first-hand the healing power of Combat Warriors. The generous people who support these events are the most down-to-earth and patriotic individuals; they are completely selfless, and all they want is for each service member to have an enjoyable time. Combat Warriors, Inc. is an organization that successfully washes out the post-combat residue in you and gives you a venue to meet individuals just like yourself.”

  • “I am a senior Non-Commissioned Officer in the US Army. I was wounded in Iraq in 2005 due to a gunshot wound through my left arm and chest. I have built friendships and shared common experience with other combat wounded veterans. I truly gained an appreciation for the Combat Warriors model for helping our nation’s combat veterans. At each hunt, there are junior service members and senior soldiers who are still actively recovering, as well as warriors who are several years removed from their wounds and have experienced the recovery process. There are soldiers & marines who are still learning to deal with the dark times that accompany their experiences, as well as those that have faced down their own demons and can share their journey in order to mentor others. Thank you, Combat Warriors!”

  • “I didn’t know it, but I really needed to hang out with combat veterans, wake up in the dark, patrol through a muddy field, set up a shooting position, and wait quietly, talking or not, waiting to shoot ducks. It is hard to get comfortable with civilians, but it was very relaxing to hunt ducks with guys who understand what I went through in combat.”

  • “You got me back in the woods and water after my injuries that sidelined me and I will forever be grateful. I look forward to every event, not just for the event itself, but for the time spent with other service members and all the patriots of your organization.”

  • “I don’t know how many veterans I have talked to that have told me that they used to hunt but don’t anymore because of deployments, PCS moves, and no one will let them use their property for hunting. You and the sponsors have set up a great program that gives new and old hunters a great opportunity to share hunting stories, overseas experiences and the thrill of the hunt.”

  • “It was a huge step for me to get back out on the water and also be in a social environment around other people that I don’t know at all. That opportunity was, in a way, life-changing and is still a memory that I think about to this day because it was so successful on many levels.”

  • “I was quite angry with my military career ending and recovering from some very severe wounds, and participating in events with Combat Warriors has been a big part of my recovery and therapy. As you know I can’t hit a flying duck to save my life, but the time spent with good people in a duck blind and in the lodge is the real therapy.”

  • Part 01 | "The Combat Warriors hunt in Crestwood, Kentucky was something that I didn’t know I needed until I was there. As a veteran who has stepped away from most support channels by opting to live in a small town, away from former teammates and fellow veterans, it was truly a breath of fresh air to be back amongst folks with similar backgrounds and shared experiences. I definitely did not realize how much of me I keep to myself because the people I interact with day-to-day wouldn’t understand thought processes and experiences that can only be understood through a common bond and background. This is perfectly fine, however, the need to let the other side out from time to time is there, and something I greatly ignored until this event …”

  • Part 02 | “… As for the preparation and execution of the hunt itself, there is no other description than top notch! I do not have experience game hunting, which would normally make for a degree of hesitation for signing on to something like this. However, knowing most of the folks involved (small perk) and the professionalism of Chad Curry (The Combat Warriors representative) quickly helped me make up my mind to try something new, and more importantly, reconnect with folks with similar backgrounds. I was not disappointed. The facility and location provided by Reliable Partners was truly amazing. The amount of planning and effort put into every aspect of this event was obvious. Everything from food to the hunting grounds was perfect really. I wish I was a more eloquent speaker so I could put into words just how awesome this was. The hunting was fantastic with a 100% success rate for all hunters involved ..."

  • Part 03 | "... The cadre allowed us a lot of flexibility to decide on hours and locations to hunt and worked around what the group decided they wanted to do that day. Another amazing thing that happened was Chad taking the time to show individuals with less experience (and some very experienced as well) several different ways to dress a deer after a kill. As a person with no experience with this, it was instrumental in setting me up for the future when I do not have someone with his experience and knowledge to lean on. Chad truly is the guy that will “teach a man to fish” to ensure they are set for the future. His dedication to this program and veterans was apparent from email introduction through now. He is a gentleman that I feel I could reach out to anytime and not only get a response, but a thoughtful and helpful response …”

  • Part 04 | “ … This may not sound like much to some, but in this day and age, and in my experience, this is a rare thing. The Combat Warriors enterprise scored a big win when they picked up Chad to work with them. I know I have bounced around here. Again, it is very difficult to put into words what this experience meant to me; I just want to ensure I am conveying it was overwhelmingly positive. The folks at Reliable Partners, I cannot say enough about! Caring professionals all, and with Chad, they orchestrated a once-in-a-lifetime event that the memory of is dear to me. I hope to work with both Chad and the Combat Warriors, as well as Reliable Partners in the future, whether it is attending or somehow supporting one of these events. All I can say is thank you to all involved! A true class act and a life experience that will be remembered!"
